G is also for the Gatesville Prison Cats

You can read my posts about them here and here.

  1. It is nice that the cats and the prisoners get something out of it.

  2. We all need someone or something living to connect with. I think this makes for a wonderul, reciprocal relationship.

  3. Wow, I had never heard of prison cats before - I hope for both the cats and the inmates' sakes, the cats can be spared. Look at all the good that comes from bringing animals to visit the elderly or Alzheimer's patients in nursing homes...who's to say animal therapy can't help those incarcerated as well?

    1. I have a video in my older posts about a prison in Indiana that allows cats in the inmate's cells.
My brother was in prison for many years and he said that there was a person who would come to visitation who needed a seeing eye dog and whenever that person would show up, the inmates would flock to the dog. Yes, prisons are for punishment for crimes, but people still need to feel that they are capable of loving or being loved.

  4. Thank you for this wonderful information. I came over from the AtoZ challenge and I'm glad I did. I'll be passing the word along about these cats. Maybe it's cats, like a gateway drug to caring . Well why not?
